When decorating you will often find you have a choice between buying an item in a plain color or buying something, such as floral rug, with a pattern. It sometimes feels easier to choose the solid color because then you have fewer variables to deal with, but it is not always the best choice. Here are some reasons why you might choose a floral rug, over a solid color one.

1. Add Interest to Your Floor

There is only so much a plain solid color rug can do for your floor. It adds a little interest in terms of a block of color and if you choose a shaggy rug, it will add texture but apart from that it will do nothing else. A floral rug in the right colors and design can have a lot more impact and act as a focal point in your room.

2. Start a Color Scheme

If you are not sure how to put together a color scheme, you can use your rug as a starting point as the colors have already been put together by an expert – the designer of the rug. Make sure that your chosen rug has a range of tones from lighter colors to darker and brighter ones and then use various colors from the rug for other elements in the room to create a scheme which works well.

3. Accentuate the Style of the Room

A plain rug has no real style, but the design of a floral rug will be either traditional or contemporary and will therefore help solidify the style of your room one way or the other. Also, if you have a romantic style room, a soft floral rug will further accentuate that style.

4. Reducing Costs

If your rug has no pattern at all, it has to rely on the quality of materials to look good. A floral pattern can disguise the fact that your rug is not 100% hand tufted wool and can look good without costing an arm and a leg.
