Once you have decided that your dog is in need of a dog kennel you will have to investigate which type of kennel would suit you best.  Though you can buy everything from cheap to very expensive kennels for those on a small budget you will need to explore the options more fully.   If you have the appropriate skills then you may be able to build your own dog house with old wooden timbers but for those who aren’t confident in this area you will need to explore more fully.  Plastic dog kennels are probably the cheapest form of dog house and so here we are going to examine different ways to find a cheap plastic dog house.

Of course the very cheapest plastic dog house will always be a second hand one.  If you are lucky then you may have a friend or family member with one in the attic that they will let you have for free or a nominal amount.  If not then you can try looking in local stores for advertisements for kennels which are for sale as they are no longer needed.

If you have access to the internet then you will have wider access to second hand kennels through sites such as ebay or Amazon.  These sites are also good for finding a reasonably priced new plastic dog crate though you should always check the prices here on a price comparison website as people always assume that ebay will be cheaper when this isn’t always true.

Another way to find a cheap kennel is to wait for end of season sales when pet stores reduce prices on all their pet accessories, including dog homes.  If you are lucky then you will be able to pick up a real bargain and will be able to find yourself some kennel accessories at the same time.
