You start to feel drowsy, then you have light sleep followed by deep sleep. Then you get to the stage that’s called REM sleep. You will normally stay in the REM stage of sleep for about an hour (this can vary from person to person) before going through the deep sleep, light sleep, drowsiness cycle again. These cycles happen around every 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the person and if you don’t go through this cycle and sped the correct amount of time in each stage then you will not get the quality of sleep you require.

The quality of sleep is what is causing you to be tired all day long. You can add two or even three hours of sleep onto your night time routine and it won’t help you get any more quality sleep.
